Joining Forces To Cure Brain Tumors
On October 18th, 2014 a spaghetti dinner was held by Jody Rivera raising money for cancer research in honor of her sister who is battling a brain tumor. I attended the dinner and it was an awesome event. The food was fantastic, there was a basket raffle, 50/50 raffle and much more. To say Jody did an outstanding job would be an understatement. Denise's People received a check in the amount of $1360 which was one third of the money raised as it was divided among 3 cancer foundations. Now I would call that getting involved! Thank you Jody!
The 2nd Annual Grey Ribbon Affair had to be cancelled, but that didn’t stop Miss Lyndsey Cieslak. Lyndsey participates in Pageantry with a Purpose. Her title is Junior Miss Pennsylvania. She was going to be our special guest for the event. Even though it was cancelled Lyndsey still managed to raise $280 for Brain Tumor Research. That was quite an achievement for someone only 10 years old. Thank you Lyndsey for all your hard work.
All too often we read negative stories about today’s teens. I am proud to do the
opposite. The teens that make up the 2014 Honor Society of Perry Traditional Academy have gone above and beyond. Not only did they participate in this year’s 2014 National Walk to End Brain Tumors, they helped set up, work registration, inflated balloons and everything
else we asked of them. On top of that they held their own fundraiser and donated a check in
the amount of $500 to Denise’s People for Brain Tumor Research. Let’s give a big round of applause for these outstanding teens.
